THE VIEW FROM OUR KITCHEN TABLE...

SEPTEMBER 2006

It is becoming obvious that fall is approaching... the corn and soybeans are turning, leaves are falling and the sound of weaned calves echoes around the farmstead.

We have one group of calves left to wean and have been very pleased with the condition of the calves and cows despite the dry and hot conditions we had this summer. We hand-feed the calves initially and then move them to the larger pens. On weaning day, the calves receive their booster shots and are wormed. Keep checking our website for pictures and information on the heifers and bulls we will be offering for sale. We do our best to provide you comprehensive and complete information, but feel free to contact us and we welcome you to visit.

Besides taking care of cattle, we have completed chopping corn silage and made the last cutting of hay. By the end of the month, we will be combining some of the early varieties of soybeans. In the meantime, we are finishing some fencing projects. There is always something to do!

Thanks for your interest in our cattle and we welcome your inquiries and visits.
