MARCH 2010
Looking out the kitchen window today we notice the beauty of a fresh blanket of snow. Two days ago, we were basking in 60 degree weather and were able to see "dry" dirt in the yard and driveway! The brown and green of approaching spring were definitely a contrast to the white snow that has surrounded us since December. We had record amounts of snow (over 60 inches) and the local school district had to cancel school seven days. The county road crews have worked hard to keep roads open with drifts along the road higher than the vehicle. We really began to wonder if we would forever be surrounded in white!
We are in the midst of calving and it is always exciting to witness the miracle of birth. One can't help but smile when you see a group of calves racing through a pasture.
This week we ultrasounded the yearling bulls and heifers. We will post this data within the next week or so. We encourage you to look at the data, but to get a "complete" picture of our cattle we encourage you to come view the cattle.
This winter we entered two bulls (LONS 8W and LONS 32W) in a feed efficiency test. The test is now complete and data is being analyzed. We will share information as it becomes available.
We thank the patrons who were able to attend our Spring Preview and Patron Appreciation on January 30. The morning started out with sub-zero temperatures, but warmed to the teens and it was sunny -- sunshine does a lot!
If you are looking for bulls or females, check out the data posted on our web site or contact us. All animals are sold private treaty. Bulls sales have begun and we encourage you to begin looking early while our selection is the largest.
Thanks for your interest in our cattle and we welcome your inquiries and visits. We are honored by the confidence and loyalty our new and repeat patrons have in our cattle.
