AUGUST 2007
Where has time gone? Besides keeping busy with farm work we have been busy with family. Time with family is a priority... life is too short to spend all of it working.
July was a challenge as far as weather. Rain showers were scattered and amounts varied, usually a small amount here. Pastures became very short and were "noisy" when we walked. We were prepared to start feeding silage to cows. However, in August the rain returned and we received some greatly needed moisture. Pastures are "quieter" and everything is green again.
Most producers in this area will be short on hay this year. Soybeans and corn look good despite the challenging weather. We are preparing to make silage and harvesting soybeans and corn will begin soon.
The sun is setting sooner and fall is approaching -- maybe our days of heat indices in excess of 100 degrees with high humidity are drawing to a close.
The data for this year's Limousin and Red Angus calves have been submitted to the respective breed associations and we are beginning to make our selections for replacement heifers and bulls. Evaluating the peformance, growth, disposition and soundness of our cattle is a continual year-around process.
If you are looking for bulls or females, or show prospects, check out the data posted on our website or contact us. Everything is sold private treaty.
Thanks for your interest in our cattle and we welcome your inquiries and visits.
